About this 20-year-old cold case
On the morning of September 25, 1998, the scattered remains of an unknown child were found under a billboard along a highway in the small town of Mebane, North Carolina. Major Tim Horne is on the scene that day. No one came forward looking for a missing child and the remains were not enough to identify him. Major Horne will work tirelessly to solve this case for the next 20 years . . .
In Philadelphia, filmmaker Karen Mintz interviews world-renown forensic sculptor Frank Bender. He is working on the bust of the "boy under the billboard." His efforts reveal an 8 to 13 year-old boy with wavy brown hair. Now Major Horne has a substantial clue - a face. It's now his mission to solve this case. He hopes perhaps someone will recognize the boy?
UPDATE: CASE SOLVED!
February 5, 2019
New DNA testing has revealed that the boy spent at least the last five years of his life in one of six states in the southern United States. The search begins NOW.
We plan to follow the search to identify the Boy Under the Billboard through the summer. If the case remains unsolved, it is our hope that the completion and release of the documentary will contribute to an ID and solve this case. Stay tuned for an upcoming Kickstarter Campaign to help us complete this documentary. Please spread the word to anyone who might have an interest in supporting this project. Help us solve Frank Bender's final mystery and bring closure to one more family.
